Historical Disinformation
Posted in Tidbits on March 7, 2002
Recently, the Department of Defense closed their new “Office of Strategic Influence” because of public opinion. Most people assumed it would be used to spread “disinformation.” In this article, Max Holland looks at how the KGB used dezinformatsiya during the cold war, most notably to spread the idea that the CIA killed President Kennedy. An interesting read… of course, since it is posted on the CIA’s website, no self-respecting conspiracy theorist would believe a word of it… :-)
