Standardized Tests & ''Sensitivity Guidelines''

Posted in Intelligence on June 6, 2002

A high school teacher in New York noticed that the standardized English tests were using modified versions of literary texts — modified to remove all reference to race, sex, violence, or anything else deemed offensive. You can read the full story at the New York Times (or click here if you object to being required to register). Personally, I’ve never been offended by a standardized test, although on more than one occassion they have insulted my intelligence. :-) Should the New York Regents be doing this?
