June ExCom Meeting

The monthly ExCom meeting was held today. “Read more” for some notes taken by our editor. Watch for a more extended version in the July Mensokie.

The meeting was called to order at 1:15 p.m. In attendance were Nancy Park, Joe Widows, John Haubrich, Billy Mabray, Angela Mabray, and Joe Gentile. Marcie Everhart joined later.

The first order of business was the upcoming elections. Since it was discovered that our by-laws do not allow a voting member of the ExCom to be a member of the NomCom, Nancy stepped down from the position and appointed Angela to the committee. Joe Gentile has announced that he will not be running for ExCom after all. A petition was signed by five COM members to nominate Jon Lundeen. The petition was accepted by the NomCom.

After reviewing a treasurer’s report sent by Patty Kohn, Nancy made a motion that the Scholarship awards for this year be as follows:

• First Place: $250
• Second Place: $150
• Third Place: $100

The motion was seconded by Billy and passed unanimously.

John gave the membership report. There were four renewals this past month, with 59 members that still have not renewed. Nancy sent personal letters to all of them. The group discussed the problem of providing events for members outside the OKC area. Nancy talked about getting in touch with people in the Lawton area about hosting an event there.

Billy gave the webmaster’s report. So far this month, the web site has received approximately 150 unique visitors, who have visited about 400 total times. While Billy and Angela are at the AG [Update: broken link removed], they will be posting convention reports on the website.

Joe Widows asked if we would ever consider hosting an RG. Nancy mentioned that Ray O’Connell and Roger Durham from Dallas have volunteered to help if we choose to host one.

Our current Ombudsman, Mike Fair, has not renewed his membership yet. Nancy will contact him to find out if he is planning to renew, so we will know whether or not we need to appoint a new ombudsman.

John motioned to close the meeting, Billy seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 2:13 p.m.
