Criticism Wanted

As if anyone has to tell a Mensan that. :-) Eric Olsen, record producer, writer, etc., is working on a project for “bloggers” to receive promotional CDs from record companies for the purpose of reviewing them. For those unfamiliar, “blog” is short for web log — a web site (much like this one) where one or more people update it often with (hopefully) interesting content. I signed up OKMensa for this project, in the hope that some of our members will be interested in writing music reviews. This project has just started, so I don’t have many details yet. Here’s how I picture it working:

Any COM members who want to participate, e-mail me with your name, member number, and the types of music you would be interested in receiving/reviewing. When there is more than one person per genre, they will take turns — order will be determined by when I received your request to join.

I send you a CD, you send me a review. The easiest way to send reviews is via email, but you can get it to me however you want. There are no deadlines, you won’t even get in trouble for not writing a review — although, if you make a habit of that, you might “inadvertently” get skipped some time. :-)

All reviews will be published on OKMensa and on Blogcritics.com [Update: broken link removed]. Reviews may also be published in the Mensokie. I’ll post more information when I have it. For now, Eric has requested that we send him a review of a CD released in the last couple of months. If anyone would like to write a review, send it to me and I’ll send it to him.
