August ExCom Meeting Minutes

Posted in Central Oklahoma Mensa on August 14, 2002

Our August ExCom meeting was held this past Saturday. Thanks to Angela Mabray for taking notes. Click the “Read More” link to find out what happened.

The meeting was called to order at 1:15 p.m. by Nancy Park. In attendance were Nancy, John Haubrich, Joe Widows, Angela Mabray, and Billy Mabray.

John gave the membership report. We had 9 new members and 2 members leave, which gave us 177 members at the end of July. Nancy informed us that Mike Fair had renewed, so he will continue to be the Ombudsmen.

Joe mentioned that perhaps hosting a RG/AG would increase interest in the group. Nancy said we should wait until the new ExCom is in place to discuss that.

It was announced that Dan Wilterding, Heather Ferguson, and Ray O’Connor are running for RVC of Region 6.

Nancy mentioned that our next test group is larger than can be handled in our current host’s home. She suggested we look for a new place to have it. Using the metro library has been unsuccessful in the past due to noise. It was suggested that OCU or another university might rent us a room. Ideally, it would cost about the same as the library ($5/hour). Nancy will recommend to T.J. that she contact OCU.

It was decided that we would participate in National Testing Day. Nancy will contact T.J. about this. Testing sessions have been full lately, so many people will need to be involved.

Nancy showed the group the logo she created for labelling books and other items the group donates to libraries. These donations will be part of Project Inkslinger.

Billy mentioned that he would like to sign up the website with an associates program, to help support the group. This, however, requires a tax ID, which the group does not seem to have. Nancy suggested talking to Max Hedges about whether the group has one or should get one.

Billy motioned the meeting should be adjourned, and Joe seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 2:12 p.m.
