Chocolate Indulgences

Here are a couple of events that didn’t fit on our Mensokie calendar, but might be of interest to COM members anyway: Chocolate Decadence and the Norman Chocolate Festival [Update: broken links removed]. Click ‘Read More’ below for all the details…

Chocolate Decadence 2003 is in Automobile Alley on the 13th of February. It costs $35.00 per person, which includes samplings of signature desserts from local restaurants, fine wine, champagne, and coffee.

The Norman Chocolate Festival will be held on February 8, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event is held as a fundraiser for the Firehouse Art Center, and costs $12.00 per ticket (each ticket is good for 10 sample desserts from local restaurants and bakeries).

Hubby & I attended the Norman Chocolate Fest this past Saturday. Delicious! 10 samples didn't sound like much when we bought the tickets -- but most of the samples were quite generous. We only finished about half of our goodies there, bringing the rest home for later in the weekend. Much later in the weekend, since we weren't sure we ever wanted chocolate again for a while.
Though we thoroughly enjoyed every one of the samples we tried, we were a bit overwhelmed with the crowd. I'm not sure whether they needed a larger room or better traffic flow. In one section of the room, what should have been a come-and-go sample area became a 30-minute line. The only other negative? Only one sample per table. That made it tricky if one restaurant had multiple treats to offer...
Overall, the Norman Chocolate Fest is great for the price. But if you've got a few extra bucks, Chocolate Decadence provides a much more romantic atmosphere -- complete with unlimited samples, free liquor, and a little more breathing space.
