March 2003 ExComm Meeting Minutes

Posted in Central Oklahoma Mensa on March 15, 2003

Following are the minutes from this month’s ExComm meeting…

The meeting was called to order at 7:11 p.m. In attendance were Jon & TJ Lundeen, Billy Mabray, Patty Kohn, John Haubrich, Nancy Park, Leeda Warren, and Becky O’Neal.

We started with a Treasurer’s report from Patty. She told us that she contacted the bank about getting a signature card for Jon so he can sign checks. They told her he would have to come into the bank with one of the people who are already authorized to sign — either Patty or Max Hedges. It was decided that since we already have two people qualified to sign, that is enough.

Patty informed us that the bank has been charging us a service fee for the past year. She will talk to the bank about getting that waived.

Patty reported that we currently have $1,200.87 in our account. We received $375.00 from testing fees last year. The ExComm decided unanimously to spend $500 for this year’s scholarships — $250 for first place, $150 for second, and $100 for third. Also, it was unanimously decided that COM would pay the entrance fee for this year’s CultureQuest team.

Jon let us know that he had returned Wolf Kiessling’s bowls as requested.

T.J. reminded everyone how important it is to renew membership before March 31. Those who renew are eligible to vote, and if a high enough percentage of our members vote in the upcoming national election, we could win between $100 and $300 for our scholarship fund from our RVC, Dan Wilterding.

Nancy remarked that she will be going to Alva to speak to the Kiwanis club about Mensa as a service organization.

Jon told us that Tracye Dominici is interested in being the Program Director. The ExComm voted unanimously to appoint Tracye as the Program Director

Jon noted that both the Mensokie and the COM website were entered in the PRP competition.

Nancy informed us that National Mensa does know she is the editor, since they are sending her the editor’s package.

The group also discussed the calendar. T.J. suggested we begin planning two months in advance. The next ExComm meeting was set for April 4 and testing occurs on April 5. CultureQuest is on April 27, with an after party scheduled for 5 p.m. that night. Jon will schedule a used car dealer as a speaker on either April 12 or 26. T.J. & Jon will host a games night on May 9.

Because of problems with submitting an electronic version to our current printer, Nancy would like to start looking for a printer she can give a hard copy of the newsletter to for printing. Nancy also wants to get pictures of people who submit articles to the Mensokie.

Various other discussions went undocumented until the note-taker realized the meeting had ended long before. After giving up on recording any of these conversations, I decided the meeting adjourned at about 8:45 p.m. There’s a fair chance, however, that the rest of the group are still there, not realizing the meeting is over. Someone might want to check on them.
