ExCom Minutes for July 2003

The July ExCom meeting was held July 13, 2003. Click ‘Read More’ to read the minutes (submitted by Billy Mabray) and make sure you weren’t volunteered for anything!

Called to order at 3:03 pm on July 13, 2003, the ExCom members present were Jon Lundeen, Billy Mabray, John Haubrich, Patty Kohn, and Tracye Dominici. Others present: Angela Mabray, TJ Lundeen, Becky O’Neal, Max Hedges, Rose Lambert, Nancy Park and Joe Widows.

Jon began the meeting with the LocSec’s report. Jon informed us that over 100 members live within driving distance of OKC and many live in Norman.

John presented the membership report. TJ said lapsed membership figures indicate we’re not keeping new members. Jon suggested a membership drive, and that we hold more events outside of OKC.

Treasurer Patty assured us the group is not broke. That’s all we wanted to hear.

Next, Nancy gave the editor’s report, reminding us that deadlines count and that the next issue will be 16 pages.

TJ then gave the Proctor’s report. John Haubrich’s application to become a proctor has been sent to National. The last test’s room rent cost $30 at the library. TJ said we need more proctors and cheaper places to hold tests. Nancy suggested contacting the OCU library; they once offered their facilities free. Other ideas were noted.

New business: TJ was asked by a member if we could publish a 2-month calendar. Nancy said she could put the current
month’s events in Mensokie normally, and add summaries of the next month’s events.

We then all helped Jon fill out the scholarship form to send to National. Now that he has learned to sound things out, he should be able to fill out the next form by himself.

The next item on the agenda was the idea of putting advertising in the Mensokie or on the website. It was decided that more re-search needed to be done: Patty will look
into how ads affect the postal fees, Jon will figure what we need to charge for print ads, and Billy will look into tax ID numbers.

TJ asked about how we should promote events occurring outside Oklahoma City. Nancy told us that she is making a special mention of it on the front cover of this
Mensokie. That settled that.

Also, TJ wanted to remind people of a
variety of things: Send events to the event coordinator, send articles to the editor, send test questions to the proctor coordinator, and everyone needs to vote in the election.

The Vice LocSec and his wife had to
leave, and they were assured the meeting was pretty much over. Neither the Vice LocSec nor his wife were naïve enough to
believe that, but they left anyway.
