Places to Go, People to See...

A few options if you want to do some travelling before the end of the year:
- The Mensa International Board of Directors meeting will be held October 8-10, 2004, in Oslo. Local Mensans have put together a “fun agenda” for those who are going to Oslo but aren’t attending the business meetings [Update 10/16/05: Broken link removed].
- Delaware Valley Mensa will be hosting the Liberty Bell XIV Regional Gathering (RG) on October 15-17, 2004, in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Highlights include a murder mystery with segments throughout the RG, an Open Mic session, the other trivia contest (“Totally Unintellectual Trivia for Mensans Who Ruined Their Eyes From Sitting Too Close To The TV”), and more.
- Minnesota Mensa is hosting their 1st BBQ of the Year RG December 31, 2004 - January 2, 2005. They’ll have a New Year’s Eve bowling party on Friday night and a big BBQ lunch outside on Saturday.

Sounds like the 1st BBQ of the Year RG was a lot of fun. Judy Hogan, Minnesota Mensa, wrote this report to M-Events: "Minnesota Mensa's winter RG was an unexpected success! We had a full slate of speakers, a dance, Karaoke, Jokeoff/Pundemonium, full hospitality, decadent dessert contest (all but one entry had choclate in it!) and 74 brave attendees. We brought in the New Year together, grilled hot dogs and hamburgers on January 1 (it was 5 degrees outside), and our keynote speaker drove 26 miles thru a freezing drizzle storm to address us. Folks came from Wisconsin, Illinois,
Iowa (lots of Iowans!) and one from California.
"We're planning another RG for this December 30-Jan 1. Details to follow. Think about joining us! Happy New Year, all!"
