CultureQuest Sign-Up Deadline

Central Oklahoma Mensa is paying the registration fees for two teams in this year’s national CultureQuest competition. All team members must be signed up by March 1st at national, which means you need to contact team captains by Thursday, February 24th, to give them time to mail in applications. Please join one of our CultureQuest teams for the 2005 national competition! All team members must be signed up by March 1st at National. Each team will consist of not more than five Mensa members and not more than two alternates (An alternate may substitute for a primary team-member who is unable to compete; however, no substitution may be made once the competition has begun). Central Oklahoma Mensa is paying the registration fees for two teams.

CultureQuest is a 90-minute written, timed test of knowledge. It will be held simultaneously across the U.S. and Canada on Sunday, April 10th. Central Oklahoma Mensa’s time is from precisely 3 pm to 4:30 pm. No reference materials of any kind, including calculators, maps, charts or other such aids, are allowed during the test. To participate, you must renew your membership by March 31st, or you disqualify the entire team!

We’ll have a strategy and practice meeting for each of our two teams on another date, to be determined later, before the contest. The top 20 teams receive cash awards, traditionally designated for their groups’ scholarship funds Team-members need not be from the same Mensa Local Group, but any prize money awarded will be paid to the group designated on the Registration Form. The national membership rosters as of March 31, 2005 will be used to determine eligibility of each team-member.

We’re looking for people with some science, arts, geography, political, generic and/or specialized knowledge. We have absolutely no idea what will be on the test, so anything you know may be important. This is intense but it’s fun!
