Of course it's a fish 'tail' -- and the rest of the fish (multitudinously so), too. If one is going on a WIGWAG, one must have something to wag, right? For those who have never been to a WIGWAG before, it's an outing/experience one would prefer doing in a group. Thus … Where I'd Go With A Group. This month it's the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks, Oklahoma. Here's your chance to learn that in (nearly) landlocked Oklahoma, shark is not just the name of a television show or a tough lawyer. The Aquarium even has a stingray touch tank. Admission is $13.95 for adults, $11.95 for seniors and military (I.D. required), and $9.95 for children ages 3-12. And, if you find yourself all geared up about fish, admission to the Karl and Beverly White National Fishing included in your admission price. Since Jenks is near Tulsa, we've invited the members of Eastern Oklahoma Mensa to meet us at the Aquarium, so here's your chance to meet members from our sister group. Come ride the wave of fun and join us.
If time permits, we might head over to the Red Robin Gourmet Burgers after the Aquarium. We 'cod' give a reason for burgers, but we bet you get the idea yourselves.
The Lundeen van has room for five passengers in addition to TJ and Jon. Call if you want a ride in the van (Wheeee! Free gas.) We'll take passengers in the order of their calls until the van is full. Others wanting to carpool should meet between 10:30 and 11 am at the Lundeen house (see http://www.okmensa.org/calendar/0208/politics.html for directions). We will leave at 11 am sharp! That leaves time for a potty break and a cigarette break (outside the car!) before we meet up at the Aquarium.
Look for a member holding a Mensa sign either just outside the Aquarium or inside if there is a lobby.
Directions (from OKC): Take I-35 N. Exit at 138 A for I-44 E/Turnpike toward Tulsa. Merge onto I-44 E/Turner Turnpike. (This is a toll road.) In just under 82 miles, take exit 218 for Creek Turnpike E for 0.6 miles. Merge onto Creek Turnpike and go 6.6 miles to the Peoria-Elm exit. (At this point, all distances are very short, under a mile.) Turn left at S. Elm St. Turn right at W. 101st St. S. Take a slight left at S. Aquarium Drive. Park and look for the person holding the Mensa sign.
