That includes you. The ExCom is Central Oklahoma Mensa's business meeting\, but there's lots of monkey business\, too\, along with tomfoolery\, good coffee\, and conversation. Share your thoughts\, start a Special Interest Group\, create a Mensa you imagined -- and get help doing it. It's the closest thing to a mental Home Depot you'll find in this area. This is a great meeting for newbies to learn about the chapter in a small-group setting.\n\nBring something on which to munch even though the ideas on which we chew are always satisfying. Patty provides coffee.\n\nView the COM Events Map - http://www.okmensa.org/calendar/map/ DTSTART;TZID=US-Central:20080209T163000 DTEND;TZID=US-Central:20080209T163000Z STATUS:CONFIRMED CLASS:PUBLIC UID:2163 DURATION:PT1H END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SEQUENCE:1 DTSTAMP:20080215T173000Z SUMMARY:COM: Dynamic Dining at Applebee's DESCRIPTION:Time: 5:30 pm -- onward\nPlace: Applebee's Grill and Bar\n2401 S. Unusual DESCRIPTION:Time: 7:30 pm\nPlace: Lundeen residence\nPhone: 721-5064\n\nTired of the blitz\, glitz\, and occasional wits of the 2008 Presidential race? Tonight we set a different pace with Mike Fair\, who will help us explore one of the most exciting campaign years that we have ever seen. Even after the torrential unpredictability leading to the February 5th Super Tuesday primaries\, there is no slackening of questions. For the first time in 80 years\, neither the Vice President nor the sitting President is seeking the nomination. In a year with a high energy level and potentially historic outcomes\, Mike Fair -- who served 26 years in elective office for the State of Oklahoma and has known and campaigned for several Presidents\, would-be Presidents\, Governors\, U.S. Senators and Congressmen -- is the perfect speaker to aid us in making sense of the seismic shifts in political power. As a Mensan\, you are probably already aware of the commercials\, the blogs\, the pundits\, the celebrity endorsements\, and the media messages that are as much\, if not more\, conflict than content. With more young people voting than ever before\, this meeting is a great opportunity for you younger members to make your opinion known\, ask questions\, and be a part of the personal approach to politics that really does make you part of Decision 2008. We look forward to all ages coming together tonight with a spirited presentation and discussion.\n\nMike Fair has a long history of being active in government. In addition to his years in the Oklahoma Statehouse\, Mike served from 2000 – 2002 as President of Oklahomans for Right to Work\, leading the 2001 passage of Right to Work in Oklahoma. The Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce selected Mike as Oklahoma's Outstanding State Lawmaker in 2001. Always the student\, Mike continues to take classes here and in New Mexico. Traveling extensively throughout the world\, learning about other cultures and how America fits into the global community\, he finds time to snow ski\, read avidly\, and golf. As a member of Mensa\, Mike has served this chapter as LocSec and continues his enthusiastic support of our scholarship program that helps others obtain a college education.\n\nMike's presentation/dialogue is an insightful look into the campaign trail spotlights without being blinded like a deer by the glare -- or by one-sided politics.\n\nPlease join us for this unusual evening.\n\nView the COM Events Map - http://www.okmensa.org/calendar/map/ DTSTART;TZID=US-Central:20080217T013000 DTEND;TZID=US-Central:20080217T013000Z STATUS:CONFIRMED CLASS:PUBLIC UID:2166 DURATION:PT1H END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SEQUENCE:1 DTSTAMP:20080219T180000Z SUMMARY:COM: Third Tuesday Trivia DESCRIPTION:Time: 6:00 pm -- onward\nPlace: Henry Hudson's\n6920 W. Hefner Rd.\, OKC\nHost: Michael Rodman\nPhone: 286-2899 (Michael\, host)\n\nAre you game for a fast-paced evening that puts a premium on speed\, accuracy\, and camaraderie? Mensans all over the country play NTN Trivia\, and so does our chapter. It's a fun evening\, not a cutthroat version of the game\, just an easy-going time. The food menu is standard and inexpensive\; the entertainment is excellent and free!\n\nLook for the Mensa sign on the table. We usually play in the back area to your right as you enter the restaurant.\n\nDirections: Henry Hudson's is located on the south side of Hefner Road\, just east of Rockwell.\n\nView the COM Events Map - http://www.okmensa.org/calendar/map/ DTSTART;TZID=US-Central:20080220T000000 DTEND;TZID=US-Central:20080220T000000Z STATUS:CONFIRMED CLASS:PUBLIC UID:2167 DURATION:PT1H END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SEQUENCE:1 DTSTAMP:20080223T103000Z SUMMARY:COM: WIGWAG: A Fish Tail DESCRIPTION:Time(s): If carpooling from the Lundeen residence – 10:30 am\nIf meeting at Aquarium – 1:00 pm\nCarpool Site: Lundeen Residence\nDestination: Oklahoma Aquarium\n300 Aquarium Drive\, Jenks\nPhone: 721-5064 (TJ Lundeen\,\nyour M hostess)\n\nOf course it's a fish 'tail' -- and the rest of the fish (multitudinously so)\, too. If one is going on a WIGWAG\, one must have something to wag\, right? For those who have never been to a WIGWAG before\, it's an outing/experience one would prefer doing in a group. Thus … Where I'd Go With A Group. This month it's the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks\, Oklahoma. Here's your chance to learn that in (nearly) landlocked Oklahoma\, shark is not just the name of a television show or a tough lawyer. The Aquarium even has a stingray touch tank. Admission is $13.95 for adults\, $11.95 for seniors and military (I.D. required)\, and $9.95 for children ages 3-12. And\, if you find yourself all geared up about fish\, admission to the Karl and Beverly White National Fishing included in your admission price. Since Jenks is near Tulsa\, we've invited the members of Eastern Oklahoma Mensa to meet us at the Aquarium\, so here's your chance to meet members from our sister group. Come ride the wave of fun and join us.\n\nIf time permits\, we might head over to the Red Robin Gourmet Burgers after the Aquarium. We 'cod' give a reason for burgers\, but we bet you get the idea yourselves.\n\nThe Lundeen van has room for five passengers in addition to TJ and Jon. Call if you want a ride in the van (Wheeee! Free gas.) We'll take passengers in the order of their calls until the van is full. Others wanting to carpool should meet between 10:30 and 11 am at the Lundeen house (see http://www.okmensa.org/calendar/0208/politics.html for directions). We will leave at 11 am sharp! That leaves time for a potty break and a cigarette break (outside the car!) before we meet up at the Aquarium.\n\nLook for a member holding a Mensa sign either just outside the Aquarium or inside if there is a lobby.\n\nDirections (from OKC): Take I-35 N. Exit at 138 A for I-44 E/Turnpike toward Tulsa. Merge onto I-44 E/Turner Turnpike. (This is a toll road.) In just under 82 miles\, take exit 218 for Creek Turnpike E for 0.6 miles. Merge onto Creek Turnpike and go 6.6 miles to the Peoria-Elm exit. (At this point\, all distances are very short\, under a mile.) Turn left at S. Elm St. Turn right at W. 101st St. S. Take a slight left at S. Aquarium Drive. Park and look for the person holding the Mensa sign.\n\nGoogle Map for Aquarium: http://tinyurl.com/2la3u9 DTSTART;TZID=US-Central:20080223T163000 DTEND;TZID=US-Central:20080223T163000Z STATUS:CONFIRMED CLASS:PUBLIC UID:2168 DURATION:PT1H END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
