The test session costs $40, payable by check or money order to American Mensa, Ltd. The test session takes about 2 1/2 hours. During that time, two tests are administered, with a short break after the first test. You need to score at Mensa admission level on only one of those tests to be offered membership in Mensa. Other than the test session fee (payable at the time of the test), you will need a photo I.D. If you are not fluent in English or are under 14 years old, we cannot administer the Mensa tests to you. If you are under 18, you will need a parental consent form. If you need one, just contact the testing coordinator and she will send one to you immediately.=0D=0A =0D=0ATesting is fun. Most of our test takers enjoy it once they begin the procedure. We seem to have a large rate of admission offers in our chapter.=0D=0A =0D=0AReservations are required. Or you might be a teen whose experience is fresher. The purpose of this meeting is to create an ongoing program within the gifted/talented children groups. This could range from getting the young ones together to socialize to having special events for young people to serving as a resource for sharing information on the needs of the gifted/talented and maximizing such children's talents/gifts. Children do not have to be members to participate in any Gifted Children's program, but a parent or grandparent must be in Mensa.=0D=0A=0D=0ALorna Stein, the Gifted Children Coordinator for our sister group in Tulsa, has graciously donated her time and talent to arranging this program, finding what our focus might be, what age groups might be best served, what topics would be of interest to the children and/or the parents. But pull off the street and you will find a full 17 acres that turn cosmopolitan into comforting country. Beautiful grounds are enchanting with a sunken lake populated by geese and ducks. It is one of the "secret spots" of Oklahoma City, our own Central Park, but more personalized -- and free for everyone to roam and relax. Centrally located in the gardens is a gigantic glass cylinder. Meet the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory. There is a fee to enter the Crystal Bridge, but it is very reasonable. Adults, $6; Seniors and Students, $5; and Children 4-12, $3. A 35-foot waterfall sets off paths lined with more than 1,000 species of exotic plants, divided into the Tropical Rain Forest Zone and the Dry Tropical Zone. Butterflies abound.=0D=0A=0D=0ADepending on time and inclination, we might go to a late lunch following our flowery footwork. This afternoon he will share with us everything you wanted to know and some things you didn't know to ask about this agency. Do you know about our Statewide Intelligence Network? How about our fantastic Crimes against Children Unit? Director Langley will tell us about the tips and tricks of his profession, such as the use of computers and databases the agency uses to solve crimes, how polygraphs are used, the ways in which our crime scene agents are now trained to increase solve rates, and many other things that protect citizens. It's better than television, folks! This afternoon promises to be one of the most fascinating meetings we have held in a long time!=0D=0A=0D=0ABright and personable, Director Langley has lectured internationally in China and taught leadership in law enforcement to the Albanian National Police in Tirana, Albania. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. Under his leadership, the OSBI has attained national recognition for becoming one of only four law enforcement agencies in the state of Oklahoma to be accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. His colorful career includes being the lead investigator on the only long-term "sting operation" in the Northwest Region in Woodward, Oklahoma. In February 1995, he was chosen from a field of nation-wide applicants to serve as the Director of the OSBI, and he has served longer than any other Director in the history of that agency.=0D=0A=0D=0AAnd now he is coming to speak to Central Oklahoma Mensa.
