CQ's After-Flow Festivities and Second-guess Salon

Date: Sunday, April 27 2008

Time: 4:30 pm
Place: Les Tucker's residence
Phone: 341-1876

We're following up on the annual brain drain, otherwise known as CultureQuest, a contest founded right here by Central Oklahoma Mensa and now a national event. Our intrepid CQ team will have just finished 90 grueling minutes of pitting their memories and knowledge banks against a test of cultural literacy, with their efforts hopefully better than other Mensa groups nationwide so that we can win some bucks for our scholarship fund.

Once the answer sheets are sealed at 4:30 p.m. on the dot, it's our turn to second-guess them at leisure. With nothing at stake except laughter once the answers are sealed, we get the fun of seeing how well we might have done individually had we been on a team. It's an entertaining afternoon, although you might learn how to say, “I shudda known that,” in five different languages after hearing tired team members say it over and over again as they uncover what they should have answered.

This is also a terrific, non-intimidating way to get acquainted with CQ so you can decide if you want to be on a team next year. The Tuckers' home is perfect for entertaining -- many nooks and crannies for conversation, and an inviting backyard. Bring a munchie to re-energize our team and the rest of the COM gang. Important: Do not ring the bell before 4:30 or you risk interrupting the team, which will be frantically putting the finishing touches on their answers.
