OKC Walking Tour
Date: Saturday, May 24 2008
Time: 10:30 am
Place: Farmers' Market & Downtown
311 S. Klein, OKC
Host: Beth Bishop
Contact: TJ Lundeen (721-5064)
We'll start at the historic Farmers Public Market, first opened in June 1928, and now a thriving Mecca for fresh produce, pottery, pansies, and whatever you never thought you'd find. We'll meet at the north side of Sterling Produce (near the center of the market area). Look for a Mensa banner. Then it's a hop into our cars for the Big Walk in downtown. Ever been in the new library? Seen the lobby of the Skirvin? Found the 'cows'? Wondered about the art museum? And of course we'll find someplace for lunch. Sightsee in your own city. Be your own guest with first-time hostess Beth Bishop. Start Memorial Day weekend with a memorable event. For carpooling, call TJ Lundeen.
Directions: From I-40 westbound, take Western exit, turn right on Western, then right on Reno. First stoplight, take left on Klein for two blocks. From I-40 eastbound, exit Western, veer right, forward across stoplight at Reno, two blocks to destination on Klein. Traveling I-35 northbound, merge onto I-40 (US-270W) via Exit 126 on the left toward Amarillo. Take Exit 149A toward Western Ave., slight right onto W. Sheridan Ave., then very shortly turn right onto S. Western Ave. Go about 0.1 mile and turn right onto S. Klein Ave. We'll be waiting right ahead -- dressed in our walking shoes.
